I’m a professional academic editor, writing instructor, scholar, and coach-consultant .
I am passionate about helping writers create beautiful words that clearly convey your meaning to your audience. As someone who has written for businesses, investors, and academics, in journals, blogs, marketing materials, and a dissertation, I understand the processes involved in effective writing.
I’ve studied writing styles and techniques, languages and dialects, grammar and structures. While doing my Masters in English Composition, I worked with struggling legal writers and researched a variety of writing structures, including narrative point-of-view, international English writers, and humanities, business, and legal writing.
I’ve worked with writers from all kinds of backgrounds, disciplines, and levels—in publishing, academia, business, and education.
Although I am now based in Pittsburgh, I work with writers from all over, thanks to the magic of virtual meetings!
I’m originally from Ohio, but have lived in five different states and many cities. I love to be on the move—exploring new places and getting to know new cultures. I love reading and learning new things, which is one reason I love editing!
Besides individual clients, I am also the Managing Editor of the Journal of Urban Learning, Teaching, and Research.
Right now, I’m mom to a teenager, a bonus kiddo, and an ornery orange cat; I have another grownup kiddo as well. When I’m not writing or editing, I’m often walking, reading, knitting, or enjoying live music.
